Cookout games is a DC-based indie game studio focused on fun-first experimental game design. The studio was founded by Ché Rose in 2018. Their first game “Black Feminist Video Game” was a video game/stage play hybrid written by Darrel Alejandro Holnes in collaboration with Civilians Theater Company. Their follow-up game is Estranged, a spaceship action game that exists in both 2D & 3D simultaneously.
Hello everyone. Sorry we went quiet for a bit. The core team and I just needed to put our heads down and work until we’d pushed ourselves over the hump. We finally got everything working and showed our game to the public on June 6th at the Enoch Indie Game Showcase in Baltimore, Maryland. The number of people who’ve actually played our game has officially jumped from MAYBE twenty to two or three hundred. I’m happy to report that people REALLY like our game. We spent the whole day watching people play our game, and it never once got old watching people freak out the first the game jumped from 2D to 3D. Here’s some pics from the event. As it turns out, we work better with deadlines, so we’re looking for another event to work towards as we speak. Special thanks to the Enoch Public Library for giving us the opportunity to share our art. And shout out to Georgia's voice actress, comedy legend Plain Ol DLo for pulling up!
